Linda Thomas

Since retiring from teaching in 2000, I have been taking watercolor classes and workshops from several instructors. My membership in Blue Morning Gallery has lead me to enter several local shows and contests. I continue to experiment with watercolor, especially pouring liquid watercolor and acrylics. The surprising results of color, transparency, and texture continue to play a huge part in my current work. I am fascinated by the beach, underwater, and the beautiful surroundings of Pensacola. My six cats whose personalities offer a wealth of inspiration every day are a favorite subject matter. I use my photographs, rather than sketches, for inspiration and reference.

Still working rather spontaneously to get the paper covered, I spend a lot of time refining and enhancing my paintings. I am also working more in humorous or fun art, especially with mixed media. When someone smiles or laughs at my paintings, I recognize their sense of humor, and it makes me happy, too!
