Margret Hildreth is a native Floridian and self-taught photographer. Her photos have appeared in the
Pensacola News Journal’s Weekender; Upbeat Pensacola, Downtown Crowd, Boogie Pensacola, Blues News (Blues Society
of NW Florida’s newsletter—she served as its photographer for several years), The Summation and Cats magazine.
At the 2001 Pensacola Interstate Fair’s Photographic Arts Competition, the photo of her cat (Comet) won a “Best Cat Award” ribbon and first place.
Over a dozen of her photos are contained within volumes of The Emerald Coast Review (the anthology of the W. Fla. Literary Federation) and one of her photos depicting two merging storm fronts was featured on WEAR-TV Channel 3’s Weather Photo of the Week, airing August 3, 2002.
In January 2002 three of her photos were published in Jack Beach’s poetry chapbook, I Love You, Pensacola. In April 2002, two of her photos were selected by the American Cancer Society as greeting cards in its annual fundraiser, “Sea Oat Sunset” and “Glory of God”. In May 2002, in the publication, “Voices of the Past, Vol. VIII: A Walk Around Aragon” (a student project sponsored by Old Hometown of the Escambia County School District and the W. Fla. Historic Preservation Society), five of her photos of Aragon Courts, prior to demolition, were featured.
Several musicians have photos taken of them by her on their websites: Pat Ramsey (bluesboy.com) and UltraViolet (sevillepublishing.ultraviolet) and on the cover of The First City Blues’ CD entitled An Evening at Traders. National bestselling author, Robert McCammon, has photos of him taken by her on his website: robertmccammon.com.
Margret’s “Sunlight Through the Trees” taken at Torreya State Park won the December ’03 Landscape Photo of the Month (see floridastateparks.org).
In the summer of ’04 her photo “Tired of Fishin’” was chosen by Artel Gallery for its “Guy’s Show” and later that year “Boat Wake” was included in its “Incognito Show”.
Four of Margret’s images were selected to appear on the cover of the ’04 Baldwin County, Alabama, phonebook cover, and five images were included inside.
She received the Pampered Chef’s Award in the ’04 Pensacola Interstate Fair’s Photographic Exhibition for her image of a bee inside an angel trumpet flower.
In Wide Angle Photo Club’s ’04 Power of Photography Show, she received three third-place awards, one of which was the “Best of Pensacola Award” for her image of the tunnels at Ft. Pickens. In the ’05 competition, she received a first-place award in Domestic Pets/Animals for her close up image of a tabby cat.
PHOTOgraphic magazine published her image of a yacht at the Pensacola Yacht Club in its May ’05 issue and it is included on its website (photographic.com).
